Welsh Food Blog…well what is it?

According to Wikipedia “Food blogging represents a complex interweaving of “foodie” or gourmet interest in cooking with those of blog writing and photography. The majority of blogs use pictures taken by the author himself/herself and some of them focus specifically on food photography.”

We must though immediately say that when we say food blog we actually mean food and drink blog. Food on its own is wonderful but is always better with a drink alongside be it. Just a glass of water from say Tynant, a glass of Welsh Wine from White Castle Vineyard, a beer from Purple Moose or a cider from Gwynt A Draig.

We cannot but agree with the definition of food blogging but this is a blog that concentrates very much on Welsh Food and Drink. Sorry no pictures of “my lunch today” or even this is what I was served in this café or restaurant.

Where this food blog coincides with most other food bloggers is we are all about local food – regional food and of course drink as well whether that be soft drinks or alcoholic.

The food blog posts that you will see here are meant to be informative telling you of Welsh food and drink related businesses, their most recent innovations or new products or even an award that has been won.

To read a food blog you are going to be interested in food and therefore, more than likely local food or at least artisan food. So this is the place to be for the most delicious Welsh food and of course Welsh drinks. Be it a wide range of ready to eat products both sweet and savoury then a great example is Blas ar Fwyd who sells to both trade and retail. Be it a garden centre or a multiple trade out let that wants “own label” confectionary then Gwynedd Confectioners in the wholesale sector of this site is the place to be.

The real strength of this Welsh Food and Drink website is the listing of those small lesser known artisan businesses that are all so very different. Be they producers such as Little Grandma’s Kitchen and their jams Fingers and Forks for their Welsh based and Welsh source catering for your holiday home, your family wedding or corporate event, or The Little Cheesemonger specialising in retailing cheeses from around the world but many Welsh cheeses and the same for wines.

We want you to enjoy discovering the very best of Welsh food and drink across this site helped by this food blog.

The site is a collaboration of Welsh Country www.welshcountry.co.uk and the Welsh Government Food and Drink division.
